KookaDesk answers the calls you can't, plus your emails and website enquiries, within 60 seconds, 24/7. Where plumbing businesses leak jobs

The urgent calls come at the worst times

Burst pipes and hot water failures happen at night, on weekends and when you're already on a job. That's exactly when nobody answers.

Customers don't leave voicemail

A homeowner standing in water rings the next plumber in the search results. A message you hear two hours later is usually a job already booked elsewhere.

Quoting by phone eats your evenings

Hot water upgrades, renovations and drain work need details and photos. Chasing them after hours is unpaid admin.

How it works for plumbers

Set up in about 48 hours, wherever you are in Australia. You keep your number, your phone and how you work.

STEP 1

Divert missed calls

A short diversion code sends calls you don't answer to your KookaDesk line. The codes are the same nationwide on Telstra, Optus and Vodafone (see the guide). We connect your email and website form too.

STEP 2

It answers in your name

It says up front it's your AI assistant, asks your questions, and only gives the answers and prices you've approved for your area.

STEP 3

You reply with a number

You get a text with the job and the customer's preferred times. Reply with a number to confirm – for example Reply 1 for 2pm, 2 for 4pm. The customer gets an SMS confirmation and an email copy goes out for the record. No links to tap; calendar sync is optional.

What it asks your customers

  • What the job is – leak, burst pipe, blocked drain, hot water, toilet, gas fitting, renovation rough-in
  • Is water still running, and has the caller found the meter or isolation tap
  • Suburb, street and state, checked against the area you cover
  • Owner, tenant, strata or property manager (and who pays)
  • Access – gates, pets, parking, keys, lockbox
  • Photos by SMS link before you quote

Emergencies handled sensibly

For water inside the home it walks the caller through finding the meter or isolation tap and staying clear of wet power points, then texts you the job marked urgent. It never gives repair instructions beyond stopping the water, and never gives gas repair advice.

Plumbing is local, even when the software isn't

Water authorities, gas distributors and licensing all differ by state, so the assistant only gives the details you load for your area. For a burst main in the street it points callers to their water utility's faults line – for example Sydney Water, Urban Utilities in Brisbane, Water Corporation in WA, SA Water, TasWater or Icon Water in Canberra – using the number for your region. For a gas smell it tells the caller to leave the area, avoid switches and flames, and call 000 or the gas distributor's emergency number printed on their bill.

Your licence number, your call-out fee and the jobs you don't do (say, gas or roof plumbing) are part of your script, so callers get your answers, not generic ones.

Frequently asked questions

How much does an AI receptionist cost for a plumber?

KookaDesk is A$199, A$349 or A$549 per month +GST depending on call minutes (300, 600 or 800) and features, the same price in every state. There's a 7-day free trial with up to 100 minutes (cancel anytime before day 7 and you won't be charged), and the setup fee is waived for our first 3 founding customers.

Can it tell a burst pipe from a dripping tap?

Yes. You define what counts as urgent – water still running, no hot water, sewage overflow, gas smell. Urgent jobs are texted to you straight away; routine work comes through with the customer's preferred times for you to confirm.

I work across two council areas or a regional patch. Can it handle that?

Yes. Give us your postcodes or suburbs, including regional towns you travel to. It politely redirects enquiries outside your area, or flags them for you if you'd like to decide case by case.

Does it work in my time zone?

Yes. KookaDesk runs in every Australian time zone – AEST/AEDT (NSW, VIC, TAS, ACT), AEST all year in Queensland, ACST/ACDT (SA) and ACST (NT), and AWST (WA). Your business hours, after-hours rules and the times it offers callers are all set in your local time.

Will callers know it's an AI?

Yes. It says it's your business's AI assistant at the start of every call and tells callers the call may be recorded, with the option to leave a message without recording instead.

Does it work with ServiceM8 or Tradify?

By default it texts you the job and you reply with a number to confirm – no software needed. If you use job software, tell us during your trial and we'll confirm exactly what's possible before you pay anything.
