AI receptionist for Sydney roofers

On a roof? KookaDesk takes the call.

You can't answer a phone safely on a pitched roof, and after a storm every leaking ceiling in your area rings three roofers at once. KookaDesk answers your missed calls, emails and website enquiries within 60 seconds, 24/7, sorts active leaks from quote requests, collects photos and texts you the job so you can confirm an inspection time.

This is our Sydney page, with Sydney suburbs and contacts. KookaDesk serves roofers right across Australia, in every time zone – see AI receptionist for roofers in Australia.

Why roofers miss the good jobs

Phones and ladders don't mix

Most of your day is spent where you physically can't take a call. Callers with a leak don't wait – they ring the next roofer.

Storms create a flood of calls

After a big storm the phone rings non-stop for days. Without triage, the urgent leaks and the profitable re-roof enquiries get buried in the same voicemail.

Quotes need photos and access details

Roof material, storeys, pitch and access decide whether you can quote from the ground. Chasing those details by phone eats your evenings.

How KookaDesk works for roofers

Set up in about 48 hours. You don't change your number, your phone or how you work.

STEP 1

Divert missed calls

Set a short diversion code so calls you don't answer go to your KookaDesk line (how diversion works). We connect your email and website form too.

STEP 2

It answers in your name

It says up front it's your AI assistant, asks your questions and only gives answers and prices you've approved.

STEP 3

You confirm, they get an SMS

It texts you a short summary with the customer's preferred times. Reply with a number to confirm – for example, Reply 1 for 2pm, 2 for 4pm. Once you confirm, the customer gets an SMS confirmation, and an email copy goes out for the record. No links to tap: just reply with a number. No calendar connection or software install needed – Google or Outlook sync is optional.

What it asks your customers

  • Problem – active leak, storm damage, broken or slipped tiles, rusted gutters, re-roof, restoration, skylight
  • Roof type – tile, Colorbond/metal, slate – and number of storeys
  • Is water coming inside right now, and roughly where
  • Suburb and street, checked against your service area
  • Owner, tenant, strata or insurer job (and claim number if they have one)
  • Photos by SMS link – drone or ground photos help you quote faster

Storm calls handled sensibly

Storm or flood damage: the assistant tells callers that for emergency help with storm damage they can contact the NSW SES on 132 500, and to call 000 if anyone is in danger. It never tells a homeowner to get on the roof.

Water near lights or power points: it advises staying clear of wet electrics and contacting an electrician, then flags the job to you as urgent.

How a call starts

The first few lines of a typical call for a made-up business. The assistant always says it's an AI.

Sample call (demo business)
AI assistant

Hi, you've reached Demo Roofing Sydney. I'm Chris's AI assistant – Chris is up on a job. This call may be recorded so we get your details right; just say if you'd prefer a message instead. Is water coming into the house right now?

Caller

Yeah, there's a drip in the hallway ceiling since the storm.

AI assistant

Okay. Please keep clear of any wet light fittings, and put a bucket under the drip. Is the roof tiled or metal, and is it one storey or two?

…the assistant takes the caller's name, mobile, suburb, access details and preferred times, then says: "I'll text the owner now, and you'll get an SMS to confirm the time shortly." The owner gets a summary and replies with a number to confirm (for example, Reply 1 for 2pm, 2 for 4pm). No links to tap: just reply with a number.

Frequently asked questions

How much does an AI receptionist cost for a roofer?

KookaDesk is A$129, A$199, A$349 or A$549 per month +GST depending on call minutes (100, 300, 600 or 800) and features. There's a 7-day free trial with up to 100 minutes (cancel anytime before day 7 and you won't be charged), and our first 10 customers pay no setup fee (normally A$299 +GST, or A$499 +GST on Pro).

Can it handle a storm surge of calls?

Yes. It can answer many calls at once, so after a storm nobody gets a busy tone. Urgent leaks are texted to you first; quote requests come through with the customer's preferred times for you to confirm.

Will it promise a time to fix a leak?

Only the windows you allow. Many roofers offer a 'make safe' visit first and a full quote later – the assistant explains whatever process you give it.

Does it deal with insurance jobs?

It records the insurer name and claim number if the caller has them, so you can follow up. It doesn't give advice about claims.

Will customers know it's an AI?

Yes. It says it's your business's AI assistant at the start of every call and tells callers the call may be recorded, with the option to leave a message without recording.

Do I need to change my number?

No. You keep your number and divert calls you don't answer to your KookaDesk line, then switch it off any time.
